Sky Manor Insurance Claims Process

We know insurance claims well and will make things easy for you!

We appreciate you having us out to take a look at your roof. There are a lot of roofing companies to choose from and we are happy you picked ours!

At this stage of the process, education is the top priority. We want to make sure you're completely comfortable with the claims process and to help you gain a better understanding of who we are and how we operate.

Here is our standard process:

  • You file a claim with your insurance company (if you haven't already) for hail damage.
  • Your claim will get assigned to an adjuster who will schedule an inspection appointment with you (it's common for you, the homeowner, to have a roofer present at that meeting).
  • The adjuster will inspect the entire exterior for damage related to the storm. Roof, gutters, windows, paint, siding, fence, deck, air conditioner, personal property (not cars), etc. - anything that was damaged due to the storm will be evaluated. If the adjuster misses something, please make us aware.
  • If there is enough damage from either hail or wind, the adjuster will then write up an estimate for a repair/replacement (depending on your policy). We will use this estimate as our starting point, so we ask that you share a copy with us. If anything is missing or needs updated, we will submit that information directly to the adjuster on your behalf.
    • SIDE NOTE: It's very common for the claim to increase from the initial estimate. Please note, we typically do NOT write up our own estimate up front. Doing it this way allows us to speed up the process and get on the same page as your insurance company.
  • We will ONLY have you sign a contract once we receive that estimate, not before. Many roofing companies will push customers to sign up front, but this is not necessary.
    • We may use a contingency agreement in certain cases on the front end, but never a full contract.
  • Once we have agreed on the scope of work and have a signed contract together, we will then get to work on scheduling your build. This includes pulling the permit, ordering materials, scheduling the delivery and the roofing crew.
  • You will receive the payments from the insurance company in multiple stages. The initial check is only a partial payment. Insurance will subtract the deductible from this check, just FYI. You will pay that to us, your roofing contractor, as part of the full total. The 2nd check gets released once the work is complete and we've invoiced your insurance.

This process is pretty straight-forward. If this is your first roof claim, we understand it can be a little daunting. Each member of our team has done this hundreds of times so you can rest easy knowing that we know it well. Let us know if you have any questions!
